Barcelona, Spain (GSMA Mobile World Congress) – February 16, 2009 – Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a global supplier of application infrastructure software used to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, has successfully completed validation of its Progress® DataXtend® Semantic Integrator (SI) for inclusion in the IBM Service Provider Delivery Environment (SPDE) Framework. SPDE provides an industry framework based on telecom and IT standards that leverages IBM software products, IBM services and partner applications to help service providers meet today’s market imperatives and exploit emerging opportunities.
The IBM SPDE Framework initiative brings together platform-independent software vendors that deliver proven solutions designed and built for telecom service providers. Through this initiative, IBM works with select IBM Business Partners to validate solutions that meet a rigorous assessment of next-generation, open-standards-based environments and fill a unique need in the Framework.
DataXtend SI complements the dynamic business process management capabilities of IBM WebSphere Business Services Fabric and the IBM Telecom Operations Content Pack by providing a data interoperability solution based on the TM Forum’s Information Framework, commonly known as the SID, simplifying data integration for a service provider’s OSS/BSS applications.
DataXtend SI integrates with SPDE components through interfaces that support the Service Component Architecture (SCA). With DataXtend SI, service providers are able to deliver projects which integrate OSS/BSS applications more quickly while reducing the cost and risk of integration by utilizing the DataXtend product’s common model-based integration, with impact analysis and interactive testing capabilities. IBM and Progress Software have customers in production today that are using DataXtend SI with SPDE 3.0 Framework components.
"IBM and Progress Software have a shared commitment to deliver practical solutions for Telecom service providers that are based on the TM Forum’s Solution Frameworks, commonly known in the industry as NGOSS," said John Petrie, vice president Industry Marketing, Progress Software. "DataXtend SI is the industry-leading data interoperability solution for SOA supporting the TM Forum Information Framework, or SID model. We are delighted to be recognized as one of the first independent software vendors to have been included as part of IBM’s SPDE 3.0 Framework."
