BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Progress
Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a leading enterprise software
provider that enables companies to be operationally
responsive, today announced that the Progress® Actional®
product family has been positioned in the leaders quadrant of the
October 2011 Gartner "Magic Quadrant for SOA Governance Technologies'.
According to this Gartner Magic Quadrant report published on October 17,
2011 and authored by Paolo Malinverno and Darryl C. Plummer: "SOA
governance is about tracking and monitoring the artifacts of an SOA,
enforcing and ensuring compliance with the policies associated with the
artifacts and measuring the outcomes related to their use."
A critical component of both the Progress Responsive Process Management™
suite and the Progress Responsive Business Integration™ suite, the
Progress Actional product family provides best-in-class, policy-based,
service management and governance that complements in-place processes
and standards-based technologies. The Actional product family includes
SOA management solutions that provide the end-to-end visibility,
policy-based governance and performance monitoring, which is needed to
manage an SOA in a distributed, multi-platform environment.
The Gartner Magic Quadrant report also states that "The vast majority of
clients approaching the SOA governance market today are not looking for
just a repository for designing services or a few security policies to
make sure some services are consumed only by the right entities. They
are also looking for a comprehensive technology partner to cover SOA
artifacts from planning to retirement and to assign a changing set of
policies throughout their lifecycle. Hence, the focus of this Magic
Quadrant is on comprehensive solutions and vendor viability becomes
paramount, as SOA projects last several years."
Hub Vandervoort, chief technology officer, enterprise infrastructure,
Progress Software commented: "We're delighted that Gartner has
recognized the Progress Actional product family. Using Actional,
enterprises can move beyond SOA to build an agile, service-based
application environment. Additionally, it enables enterprises to
successfully run and deliver operational responsiveness incrementally to
connect people, functions, and computing resources across and beyond
enterprise boundaries. These best-in-class visibility and monitoring
features are among the key components sought out by many Progress
customers. Additionally, the Actional product, which includes several
patent-protected capabilities, provides the foundation for the Progress
Responsive Process Management suite."
Customers using the Progress Actional product family include
Cablevision, Credit Suisse, Partners, and IHG (InterContinental Hotel
Group). For more information on Progress Actional, visit http://web.progress.com/en/actional/index.html.
